Robinhood Markets is coming to Indonesia through two major acquisitions. Today, the US brokerage firm announced that it has closed two acquisition deals of PT Buana Capital Sekuritas and PT Pedagang Aset Kripto, also known as Coinvest.
These acquisitions mark Robinhood's entry into the country, while also expanding Robinhood's influence in Indonesia as one of the largest crypto markets in Southeast Asia.
The acquisition deal is expected to close in the first half of 2026. However, Robinhood did not disclose the exact value of the acquisition.
They announced that Pieter Tanuri, the majority shareholder of Buana and Coinvest, will serve as a strategic advisor to Robinhood.
Why is Indonesia the target of Robinhood's expansion in Southeast Asia? According to Patrick Chan, Head of Asia at Robinhood, Indonesia has a rapidly growing trading market.
“Indonesia already has more than 19 million capital market investors and 17 million crypto investors,” added Steve Quirk as the Chief Brokerage Officer of Robinhood at 08/12/2025 via an X post.
Thus, Robinhood views Indonesia as the right place to continue their mission, which is to democratize finance for everyone.
“We look forward to helping even more people participate in the financial system,” Quirk finished.
Through this expansion, Robinhood plans to bring their crypto trading services to Indonesia. “We look forward to bringing Indonesians the same innovative services that have earned the trust of Robinhood customers globally,” said Chan.
