Financial literacy is an important skill that should be taught to children from a young age. One of the most important financial skills is saving for the future.
In the past, children saved up fiat currencies in piggy banks. Then, conventional banks started offering bank accounts for children that can be managed by parents. Children are even gifted gold or stocks by parents with custodial accounts.
Now, the financial world has once again evolved with the emergence of digital assets like cryptocurrency. Just like stocks, bonds, gold, and other investment assets, cryptocurrency can serve as an investment instrument to build wealth over time.
This is why Binance released Binance Junior, so that crypto investments are not restricted to adults only.
The app was released last Wednesday on Binance Blockchain Week. Through an X post on 03/12/2025, Binance announced the Binance Junior app. “Build family-focused crypto savings and prepare your child for a future empowered by crypto,” Binance wrote
Through this app, children and teenagers can create exchange sub-accounts linked to their parents' accounts.
Parents with Binance accounts can set up savings accounts on Binance Junior for children aged 6 to 17. Parents can then transfer crypto assets to these accounts.
Parents can also set spending limits and control access to certain features on their children's accounts.
According to Binance, this app aims to provide a platform for families, especially children, to learn about crypto assets through proper education, not speculation and trial and error.
Allowing children to hold crypto assets may sound controversial. However, DemandSage notes that most crypto holders are Gen Z, aged 25 to 34. This means that the younger, technologically literate generation is more confident in investing in crypto.
No one can deny the fact that cryptocurrency has become a valuable investment instrument, just like traditional assets like stocks and gold.
However, it should still be noted that cryptocurrency is much more volatile than fiat currencies or traditional investment instruments. Parents who open Binance Junior accounts for their children should thoroughly educate them with crypto fundamentals, including the associated risks.
One way to educate yourself as a beginner is by reading educational articles on DRX Token’s blog. Want a thorough understanding of cryptocurrency? Read the article What is Cryptocurrency? A Full Guide for Beginners and Professional Investors.
